Start by ensuring the engine has cooled down before servicing or repairing the radiator hose because the cap has high pressure inside; carefully use a cloth to protect yourself then rotate the cap to the first stop while standing back before unfastening it completely. The maintenance guide defines when you should inspect radiator hoses yet you need to change them when they become cracked, rotted or changeable for collapse. The radiator draining procedure starts before you remove the hose clamps which should then be placed aside. Lift the hoses off each connector before taking them out of the vehicle. Place new hose clamps beyond the clamping bead before setting them in the middle of the clamping surface for leak prevention. Place hose clamps 50.8 mm (2 inches) from every hose end before sliding the hoses on their respective connections while keeping clamp positions 3.2 mm (1/8 inch) from the hose terminations. Close the radiator with a solution made of fifty percent coolant and fifty percent water.

New hoses must be installed if they are cracked, rotted, or prone to collapsing.
