Power Steering Pressure Hose, Lower

Start by hoisting the vehicle into NEUTRAL position and then beginning the service of the power steering line and hose including the return hose between the power steering fluid cooler and power steering fluid reservoir. Start the service of the power steering fluid reservoir by using a proper suction device for draining. Begin by loosening the clamp on the fluid cooler hose and afterwards disconnect it from the system. First remove the clamp from the fluid cooler-to-reservoir hose then take out that hose. Perform the installation reverse all steps of removal and add proper fluid into the power steering system. During the replacement process operators should minimize the introduction of contaminants because they trigger early failure in power steering components.

Service and repair of the steering gear to fluid cooler return hose starts with setting the vehicle on a hoist in NEUTRAL gear. Suction drain the reservoir of power steering fluid by using an appropriate tool. The next step consists of unfastening the steering line clamp plate nut which requires tightening to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) when reinstalling it. The essential requirement for power steering line maintenance is new O-rings so rotate the clamp plate to disconnect the steering gear lines before discarding used O-rings. You can loosen and separate the power steering gear-to-fluid cooler return hose by releasing its clamp. The power steering system requires filling by following the reverse order of the removal process.
