Service and repair of radiator hoses begins with turning off and cooling down the engine before attempting to remove the radiator cap since operating during this process could lead to person injury or cooling system damage. The radiator cap must be covered by a thick cloth before users turn it until it stops once at which time they press down and pull off the cap. Regular checks of radiator hoses must occur per maintenance standards followed by immediate replacement of cracked and rotted hoses and ones that are collapsing. You must drain the radiator first before unfastening hose clamps which need to be shifted aside. Lift the vehicle and remove the hoses by sliding them off their connections from the car. You should install new hoses by situating their clamps beyond the bead and placing them in the middle of the clamping surface to stop coolant leaks and protect engine components. Position clamps 50.8 mm (2 inches) beyond hose ends before putting hoses onto connections and securing clamps at least 3.2 mm (0.13 inch) into clamping zones from hose terminations. The cooling system should be filled as the last step for installation.

Reposition the clamps beyond the bead and center them on the clamping surface to prevent coolant leaks and engine damage.

Wrap a thick cloth around the cap and turn it slowly to the first stop, stepping back to allow pressure to release. Once all pressure is released, press down on the cap with the cloth, turn, and remove it.
