  A: A proper blend door motor service requires that users disconnect the battery initially. The first step includes removal of the instrument panel steering column cover then the right-hand (RH) and left-hand (LH) instrument panel lower insulator panels. The steering column opening brace can be removed after you detach both nuts and the brace itself. Start by disconnecting the universal joint of the steering shaft and then remove the right-hand cowl side trim panels as well as the left-hand ones. First open the glove box door before you take out two screws which secure the center instrument panel support. Remove the instrument panel defroster grille by first disconnecting its connectors then unclipping them from the panel. Next remove the top moldings on both the RH and LH sides together with the three instrument panel cowl top screws.
