2003 Ford Escort Cruise Control Servo Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the cruise control servo on 2003 Ford Escort?
A: The first step in serving or repairing the cruise control servo requires disconnecting the battery ground cable. Insulate the speed control actuator cable from the throttle control lever by removing the cable end and disengaging the cable sleeve from the retainer and finally removing the retainer. Before servicing the speed control servo disconnect its electrical connector and unfasten the speed control actuator cable cap by pushing the retaining tab which then allows counterclockwise rotation. The speed control actuator cable must be unbuckled at its end by pushing the spring tab away from the cable so it can detach from the actuator. The speed control servo removal ends with bolt removal and the servo's removal from its location. The installation procedure must be exactly reverse of the removal procedure. It is essential to understand that vehicle drive symptoms may become abnormal when the battery gets disconnected and then reconnected because the vehicle must learn its adaptive strategy again.
