2004 Lincoln Town Car Air Bag Sensor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the front impact air bag sensor on 2004 Lincoln Town Car?
A: Service of the front impact severity sensor requires preventing power from reaching the vehicle while also opening the hood. Before reaching the sensor you must first remove both pin-type retainers along with the header opening panel to locate it on the radiator core support beside the hood latch. Lift out the front impact severity sensor while you unscrew its bolts and disconnect the electrical connector then carefully take away sensor along with its bracket. Position the new front impact severity sensor together with its bracket and then install the bolts and finally connect the electrical connector. The user should now reset the position of the header opening panel before securing the pin-type retainers in place. The system needs a final system power-up before vehicle release to customers through verification of a fault-free and operational air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS). Safety glasses must always be worn while working on this project and memory saver devices should be omitted to prevent personal injuries. Proceed to put back the original part and perform the diagnostic test again.
