2005 Lincoln Aviator Brake Disc Parts Q&A
Q: How to Properly Remove and Install a Brake Disc on 2005 Lincoln Aviator?
A: The brake pads need removal in the first step of servicing the brake rotor/disc. You need to take out the adjustment hole knockout panel or access plug during service to contract the parking brake shoe along with the lining. To remove a brake disc that shows resistance use rust penetrant on its hub-to-disc joining surfaces. All brake disc and hub contamination should be washed away with parts cleaner after extracting them. Brake pads and wheel studs together with brake disc need to be kept away from lubricant contact which requires applying thin anti-seize lubricant to the hub flange. The brake pads must be reinstalled after you attach the brake disc. After the access plug removal make sure you will replace it to stop debris from getting inside.
