2005 Lincoln Aviator Power Steering Reservoir Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service the Power Steering Reservoir on 2005 Lincoln Aviator?
A: The power steering fluid service process must start by draining the power steering reservoir using a vacuum tube that prevents contamination because it speeds up power steering component failure. The first step is to separate the hose from the fluid cooler-to-reservoir connection through the clamp followed by disconnecting the upper clamp connecting the reservoir-to-pump hose before hose removal. The two upper bolts of the power steering reservoir must be removed while making sure the bolts achieve 3 Nm (27 inch lbs.) torque when reinstalling later. Remove the lower bolt of the power steering reservoir yet tighten it to 3 Nm (27 inch lbs.) when reattaching it. The power steering system needs proper filling after reinstalling items in the reverse order of the removal procedure.
