2006 Lincoln Town Car Piston Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the piston on 2006 Lincoln Town Car?
A: The piston repair and service process starts from eliminating the following elements: upper piston compression ring, lower piston compression ring, upper piston oil control segment ring, piston oil control spacer, lower piston oil control segment ring and the two piston pin retainers. To proceed with servicing the piston start by removing the piston pin followed by separating the connecting rod from the piston. When assembling the product the identification markings on the connecting rod should face forward before inserting the rod into the piston. The installation requires clean engine oil for lubricating both the piston pin and its retainers before adding the pin between them. Use clean engine oil to lubricate all piston rings and the piston oil control spacer before installing the lower piston oil control segment ring followed by the piston oil control spacer and the upper piston oil control segment ring and then lower piston compression ring and ending with the upper piston compression ring.
