How to service and repair the Center Console Base with the automatic transaxle on Ford Escort?

To work on the automatic transaxle console you must first move both front seats toward you. Press the parking brake while removing the two screws located on each side of the parking brake console panel. To separate the parking brake console panel lift upward. Following that remove its screws before taking apart the shift console panel. Pull away the two pushpins from each side. Move the gearshift lever into the low (L) position before taking out the shift console base holder. Use upward force to take off the shift console panel but return the gearshift lever to PARK position. Reattach all parts according to their removal steps for installation.
