The vehicle must be in NEUTRAL gear and on a hoist before starting starter motor servicing work. The first step includes disconnecting the battery ground cable while removing the starter solenoid terminal cover. After removing the nut from the starter solenoid cable for battery disconnection you must tighten it to 13 Nm (10 lb-ft) when re-installing the part. The starter solenoid wire requires removal by uninstalling its attached nut before tightening it to 6 Nm (44 lb-in) during installation. Cautiously uninstall the starter motor along with its three bolts before reinstallation ensure tightening the bolts to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft). Reverse the removal steps to succeed in installer completion. The maintenance work must end with protective caps properly installed because the heavy gauge leads directly connect to the battery.
