A variation of the first-generation Mondeo named the Ford Contour delivers North American consumers a vehicle with carefully designed characteristics to fulfill their requirements. Created from CDW27 platform technology the Ford Contour maintains compact engineering which determines its status as a mid-size sedan yet remains one of the smallest models in this category. The Ford Contour offered two engine options: the Zetec 2.0L I4 engine producing 125 hp, and the Duratec 2.5L V6 engine generating 170 hp. Both options provide the standard manual five-speed transmission and optional automatic four-speed transmission for the driver. The Ford Contour integrated well-tuned shock absorbers onto its suspension system and applied four-wheel disc brakes with wider tires to achieve superior handling ability. The select models of Ford Contour offered optional anti-lock braking with traction control which improved both safety measures and driving performance. A 1998 redesign included an SVT version which received a modified 2.5L V6 engine delivering 195 hp and superior suspension and wider wheels. The integration of authentic MicronAir filtration systems along with other Ford Contour original parts meets Ford's strict quality requirements through reliable performance and durability. A selection of OEM parts exists for Ford Contour owners to choose from so they can rely on a warranty-backed preservation of reliability while receiving cost-effective products approved by the manufacturer.
