Thermostat Housing

Start the procedure of servicing the 2.3L engine thermostat housing by draining the cooling system. The technician disconnects both the lower radiator hose together with the EGR valve heater hose. Start the procedure by removing the bolting securing the thermostat housing then unfasten the housing from its position. Secure the new thermostat housing bolts with 10 Nm torque (89 lb-in torque). Take off the gasket afterward cleaning followed by an inspection to determine whether a new gasket should replace the old one.

Partial draining of the cooling system constitutes the first step to serve the thermostat housing of the 3.0L engine. The service of 3.0L engine requires technicians to remove both the air cleaner outlet tube and throttle body cover. The first task involves removing the upper radiator hose from the thermostat outlet housing along with the alternator wiring pin-type retainer. Use tools to eliminate the bolts that secure the thermostat outlet housing together with the water thermostat. Scrap with care while cleaning the mating areas of thermostat housing as any damage to aluminum will result in leak paths. Remove the existing gasket before you check that both mating surfaces remain free from any remnants of gasket material. The installation process concludes by doing the opposite of what was needed for removal.

Disconnect the radiator lower hose.

Remove the bolts securing the thermostat housing and take off the housing.

Discard the old gasket.

Disconnect the coolant hose along with the lower radiator hose.

Ensure to tighten the bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs).
