You must turn off the air suspension system electrical power before servicing the catalytic converter because unexpected air spring inflation or deflation might cause shifts in the vehicle while operations proceed. Place the vehicle in NEUTRAL position and position it on a hoist. Disconnect both electrical connectors of heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) and catalyst monitor sensor (CMS). Start by taking out and disposing the catalytic converter-to-exhaust manifold nuts followed by the removal of bolts and flag nuts holding the catalytic converter to the outlet pipe and also discarding the bolts and flag nuts and gasket. Sensors HO2S and CMS should first be removed and then experts should apply anti-seize lubricant with a thin layer to the threads of these sensors before final installation. The mating surfaces of exhaust manifold and outlet pipe along with the catalytic converter require cleaning before new gaskets and fasteners should be installed. Fasten the components from front to rear before you reach complete assembly. The flange installation proceeds correctly when alternately tightening each sequence of bolts from exhaust manifold to converter nuts and from converter to inlet pipe nuts up to specification to create smooth flange contact. End the installation by performing the steps in reverse order of uninstallation.
