The repair process of inner tie rod ends starts with tie rod end removal together with tie rod end jam nut removal. Before performing the service start by removing both the dust seal clamps from front suspension steering ball stud then remove the front suspension steering ball stud dust seal. You should keep the steering gear at center position when employing a 20 mm crowfoot tool to the flat rack gear surface to block movement and avoid damage during front-wheel spindle tie rod removal and installation. An assistant provides help in using the Inner Tie Rod Socket Tool to disconnect the right-hand front wheel spindle tie rod. All reusable components should be cleaned deeply and inspected for damage because harmful materials in abrasive substances can damage the steering gear. You should secure the rack gear with a 20 mm crowfoot while using the Inner Tie Rod Socket Tool to install the front wheel spindle tie rod through application of Steering Gear Grease C3AZ-19578-A or an equivalent Ford specification ESW-M1C87-A. Verify front wheel spindle tie rod functionality by adjusting it across multiple directions. Set the front suspension dust seal for ball stud steering before applying steering grease from C3AZ-19578-A inside the front wheel spindle tie rod groove while making sure the dust seal rests directly over the steering housing bead and twisted free in its tie rod groove and the breather tube reaches both dust seal nipples securely. Place the front suspension steering ball stud dust seal clamps on both sides before you add Silicone Brake Caliper Grease and Dielectric Compound D7AZ-19A331-A that complies with Ford specification ESE-M1C171-A to the tie rod end threads on the front wheel spindle.

Service and repair procedures for the outer tie rod end start with setting the key to RUN position while supporting the vehicle in an elevated position. Start by removing the wheel assembly along with its tire by unscrewing the lug nuts. The first step involves discarding the cotter pin from the tie rod end castellated nut followed by removing the nut itself. The Tie Rod End Separator tool will help you disconnect the front wheel knuckle from its tie rod end. Record the positioning on the tie rod end followed by the tie rod end jam nut and the front wheel spindle tie rod in the process. Separate the tie rod end from the front wheel spindle tie rod by loosening the jam nut. Insert and thread the new tie rod end onto the front wheel spindle tie rod before aligning it with markings on both components then tighten the tie rod end jam nut. You should connect the front wheel knuckle with the tie rod end by tightening the castellated nut until its castellations match the cotter pin hole's position before adding the castellated nut together with fresh cotter pin. Finish by installing the wheel and tire assembly then bringing down the car while performing front wheel alignment according to specifications.
