Fuel Rail

Maintenance of fuel rail starts with fuel-related safety procedures as flammable mixtures exist within the system. The service begins with disconnection of the battery ground wire followed by fuel pressure reduction before work can start. The procedure for upkeep requires teaming up with the fuel lines and extracting the throttle body alongside the EGR valve and exhaust manifold tube. To proceed you should detach the drive belt then disconnect the main fuel shut-off solenoid connector and the generator cable and electrical connector along with the harness pin-type retainer. Use tools to dismantle and remove the bolts keeping the generator bracket secure together with any other relevant bolts. The accelerator cable and speed control actuator cable need to be unclipped from the crash brackets before the LH heated oxygen sensor and transmission electrical connector are separated from the bracket at the cylinder head rear. Detach the crash bracket pin-type fuel charging wiring retainer while removing the wiring bracket and disconnect its wiring connectors. First disconnect the transmission harness from the stud then take off the bracket by removing its nut and bolt and disconnect the vacuum lines. Detach the crash bracket by starting with a bolt then a stud removal. Next disconnect the ground connector from the rear right stud followed by the generator harness locator retainer from the left front stud. The EGR vacuum regulator solenoid and the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister purge valve along with the crankcase ventilation tube and the eight fuel injector electrical connectors need to be taken off. Disassembling begins with removing four studs to extract the fuel injection supply manifold together with its fuel injectors as one component. The installation process requires engine oil lubrication of the fuel injector pockets while using new O-rings crafted from specific fuel-resistant material instead of repeating the use of old O-rings. The fuel injection supply manifold along with fuel injectors must be installed together before torquing the manifold studs to manufacturer specifications. After reinstalling the crash bracket and its components together with the bolt and stud install connections for the EGR vacuum regulator solenoid to run between the evaporative emission canister purge valve and the crankcase ventilation tube. The next steps include connecting the eight fuel injector electrical connectors across the fuel supply retaining bracket while reattaching the wiring connectors. Begin with installing the retainer at the stud position before adding the nut and bolt while adding the LH heated oxygen sensor connector and finally fastening the fuel charging pin-type retainer at the crash bracket for completion. The accelerator cable and speed control actuator cable must have their clips installed onto the crash brackets before installing bolts to mount the generator bracket while tightening bolts. The ground connector should be connected to the RH rear stud while attaching the generator harness location retainer to the LH front stud. Installation of the drive belt and EGR valve exhaust manifold tube and throttle body assembly will proceed after reattaching the fuel lines which are followed by battery ground cable connection.

Disconnect the fuel temperature sensor connector, fuel pressure sensor connector, and the main fuel shut-off solenoid connector.
