Fuel Rail

The fuel rail service process should start with disconnecting the ground cable from the battery followed by fuel pressure release. You need to start by taking out the upper intake manifold and unplug six fuel injector electrical connectors before disconnecting the fuel supply tube spring lock coupling. Start the fuel rail service by unbolting the four rail bolts until you can pull out the rail and fuel injectors together. Next step to disconnect and discard the old O-ring seals from the six fuel injectors which were attached to the rail. All new O-ring seals require engine oil lubrication before you place them on the injectors for installation onto the fuel rail. Secure the fuel rail with fuel injectors by placing them together and fasten the four bolts at a torque setting of 10 Nm (89 lb-in). The procedure requires installing the fuel supply tube spring lock coupling followed by connecting the six fuel injector electrical connectors to reinstall the upper intake manifold before rejoining the ground battery cable.

You should disconnect the battery ground cable while you remove the fuel pressure before starting fuel rail servicing. Initiate service of the fuel rail by separating the four fuel injector electrical connectors with the fuel injector harness from the fuel rail. Thoroughly disconnect the spring lock coupling which maintains the fuel supply tube. You should take apart the fuel rail with its fuel injector components by pulling off both retaining bolts while maintaining their unit support. Static torque of 25 Nm (18 lb-ft) applies when installing the bolts. The fuel rail requires service after you remove its retaining clips which separate the fuel injectors from the fuel rail and eliminate the old fuel injector O-ring seals. The installation requires fuel-resistant seals instead of regular O-rings to avoid leaks in the fuel system because old seals cannot be reused. Engine oil lubrication of the new O-ring seals needs to occur before you reinstall them using the reverse order of removal steps until the fuel injectors have the new seals positioned correctly.

Remove the fuel rail by taking out the bolts and spacer insulators, followed by the intake manifold.
