Fuel Rail

All safety procedures need to be followed for servicing the fuel rail because highly combustible mixtures will be present. The battery ground cable requires removal before relief of fuel pressure and fuel line detachment. Start by removing the throttle body in combination with the EGR valve that leads to the exhaust manifold tube along with the drive belt removal. Disconnect the fuel temperature sensor with the fuel pressure sensor and main fuel shut-off solenoid and accelerator cable and speed control actuator cable from the crash brackets. The wiring bracket with eight fuel injector electrical connectors and the other components such as crankcase ventilation tube, vacuum lines and the EGR vacuum regulator solenoid must be untethered from the cylinder head rear bracket followed by removal of these components. The crash bracket and the studs need removal to extract the fuel injection supply manifold and fuel injectors which should be installed as one assembly. The installation process requires the use of Ford specification WSS-MZC153-G engine oil to lubricate fuel injector pockets whereas new fuel-resistant material O-rings need to be used. Attach the fuel injection supply manifold with fuel injectors as one assembly before torquing manifold bolts to their specified values and reinstalling crash bracket together with studs. Proceed with connecting the FOR vacuum regulator solenoid, vacuum lines, crankcase ventilation tube and the eight fuel injector electrical connectors. The accelerator and speed control actuator cables need to be secured with bolt and nut before installing the LH heated oxygen sensor and transmission electrical connectors and fuel supply retaining bracket. Reinstall the drive belt followed by hooking up the EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube and throttle body and complete the procedure by reconnecting the main fuel shut-off solenoid and fuel pressure sensor and fuel temperature sensor connectors. The fuel lines together with the battery ground cable need to be reconnected.

Separate the LH heated oxygen sensor and transmission electrical connector.

Unclip the accelerator cable and speed control actuator cable, then separate the LH heated oxygen sensor and transmission electrical connector from the bracket at the rear of the cylinder head.
