The service procedure for the shift knob in 3.5L engine vehicles starts with removal of the PRNDL trim ring and upper console panel. Open the lower shift knob bezel downward then throw away the two bolts which secure the shift knob. The light bulb service requires disconnecting the light from the PRNDL bezel but LED-equipped vehicles require disconnecting the LED electrical connector. The procedure starts with removing the TC switch electrical connector and then taking out the wiring harness retainer from the shift knob housing. Use a pair of plastic pry tools to remove the PRNDL bezel and the shift knob as well as knob bezel. Position the override lever into its dedicated guide space for correct functionality of the shift interlock override button during installation. Place the TC switch wiring harness through the shift knob bezel followed by the PRNDL bezel before attaching the PRNDL bezel to the shift knob while ensuring both the override lever installation and locking tab securement. Fasten the TC switch electrical connector while attaching its fastener to the shift knob housing. Drivers must use the LED electrical connector in vehicles that use LED illumination systems while light bulb lighting requires connection to the PRNDL bezel. Put the shift knob bezel in position after which you should insert the knob using two new bolts and tighten them to 2 Nm (18 lb-in) force but not beyond this limit to prevent any harm to the parts. Connect the lower shift knob bezel correctly before reinstalling the upper console panel and the PRNDL trim ring.

A procedure to fix the shift knob for 3.5L engine vehicles begins with disassembly of the PRNDL trim ring and upper console panel. Unfasten the two mounting bolts on the shift knob by sliding downward the lower shift knob bezel. Vehicles with light bulbs should have their light disconnected from the PRNDL bezel whereas vehicles with LED illumination require disconnecting the LED electrical connector. The removal process for vehicles equipped with TC switch includes disconnecting the TC switch electrical connector while simultaneously removing the wiring harness retainer from the shift knob housing. Users should release three tabs that will enable them to take off the PRNDL bezel, shift knob, and knob bezel. The TC switch should be installed by passing its wiring harness through both the shift knob bezel and the PRNDL bezel while making sure all three locking tabs are locked into position. Connect the electrical connector of the Transmission Control (TC) switch while fastening the connector to the shift knob housing. LED-equipped vehicles require connecting their electrical connector while light bulbs need installation at the PRNDL bezel. Installation starts by setting the lower shift knob bezel followed by adding the shift knob pieces and bolts. This step ends with inserting the lower shift knob bezel into place and completing installation with the upper console panel then the PRNDL trim ring.
