The repair process for spark plug wire starts by removing throttle cable and speed control cable from engine cover followed by taking spark plug wires off the ignition coil. Remove first the variable camshaft timing solenoid electrical connector grommet which is located on the engine cover then disconnect its attached electrical connector. To disconnect spark plug wires from spark plugs apply rotating motion while unclipping the wires from their retainers. Pulling on spark plug wires should always be avoided as they should simply break the seal on the spark plug by rotating the connector. The process of uninstalling the spark plug wires ends when all wires are off and installation starts with its reverse sequence. Installation of spark plug wire connectors requires silicon dielectric compound either as part D7AZ-19A331-A or equivalent according to Ford standard ESE-M1C171-A.

Disconnect the spark plug wires from the ignition coil and remove the variable camshaft timing solenoid electrical connector grommet from the engine cover, followed by disconnecting the variable camshaft timing solenoid electrical connector.
