Ignition Switch

Service operations for the non-functional steering column lock cylinder start when the technician disconnects the battery ground cable followed by removing the upper and lower steering column shrouds through screw removal. Begin by grooving the break-away bolt heads with a hammer and chisel and then take out the key-in-reminder switch using two screws and by removing its bolts. Circumvent the ignition switch lock cylinder removal when little tension springs are present beneath the cylinder rod. A 3 mm (1/8 inch) diameter wire pin or small drift needs insertion into the access hole under the ignition switch lock cylinder to depress the retaining pin before pulling on the ignition switch lock cylinder. You should place the ignition switch lock cylinder within the lock housing while positioning the key to the ON position followed by tightening the ignition lock bolts until they break off. Congratulatory verification must occur for the ignition switch lock cylinder's operational status.

Tighten the ignition lock bolts until the heads break off.

A small tension spring will pop out from beneath the cylinder rod.
