Rear Side Rail

The service or repair procedure for the rear cross-member of the axle housing starts with removing the rear spindles and stabilizer bar followed by placement of jackstands under the rear axle. Start the repair by removing the two Anti-lock Brake Sensor (ABS) harnesses which connect through the axle clips and then disassemble the two ABS sensor clip bolts. First disconnect the brake hoses from the axle by unpins the clips and remove the hoses from their position. Safety precautions require immediate handwashing following brake fluid contact because it contains polyglycols and polyglycol ethers that cause irritation. Eye contact requires 15-minute flushing with running water. Any spillage of brake fluid demands immediate water washing since it poses damage to painted and plastic surfaces. The brake lines can be uninstalled by bending the retainer clips to free them from the lines' position. Separate the two load sensor bracket bolts before placing the load sensor safely to the side. First disconnect the two shock absorber lower mounts by removing lower shock absorber nuts and placing shock absorbers to the side. The rear axle requires removal after the U-bolts and their corresponding nuts are separated and the axle can be lowered before removing it. Installation requires reverting the removal steps and adjusting the load sensor bracket before bleeding the brake system.
