The power seat motor repair process starts with removing the seat together with its track assembly. Connectors for the seat track motor need to be removed for adjusting the seat track position through specified power and ground input at individual pins. To safely remove the seat track motor assembly it must be in the correct position; if it does not move manually rotate the drive tube when supplying power. Place the outboard track in its forward position to let two teeth along the retainer clip show and record both track C-channel positions on the plastic-coated slide before reinstallation. Begin by taking out the Driver Seat Module (DSM) when present after recording its connector positions while disconnecting the three memory position sensor electrical connectors. The necessary nuts and bolts require removal to separate the DSM with bracket together with wiring. To separate the drive tube from the seat track motor assembly you should remove the inboard seat track-to-upper support assembly lift link nuts and use locking pliers and a hammer when separation occurs. Start the seat track motor assembly removal process by removing the attached bolts and nuts from the seat track then gently unearth both support straps and outboard track. When these sensors exist they must be taken out by counterclockwise rotation. The memory seat position sensors should be set clockwise during installation to achieve correct alignment between the seat tracks so binding can be prevented. Secure the seat track motor assembly into position by placing the motor with the correct orientation and apply multi-purpose grease along its pivots. Seam the gears tightly together before installing the support straps directly on the height adjustment gears and placing the pinion cage into correct position. Position the outboard track then secure all components by tightening the bolts from the seat track motor assembly to the track at 12 Nm (106 lb-in) while the nuts reach 14 Nm (124 lb-in). Complete a second inspection of outboard track C-channel and plastic-coated slide index marks and resume the previous procedure if necessary. Secure the inboard track assembly with the drive tube touching the motor stub shaft and lift links properly engaged. Check that the alignment of index marks is correct after tightening inboard seat track-to-upper support assembly lift link nuts to 27 Nm (20 lb-ft). Mount the seat position sensor magnet assembly with a final torque value of 9 Nm (80 lb-in). The vehicle seat track should be positioned inside its mounting holes while maintaining free alignment between the pieces before linking memory seat components and installing the DSM. Complete the installation by fitting the seat while directing the driver seat from zero travel to maximum extent when memory seats are active.

You should start servicing or repairing the power seat motor by taking out the target seat and seat track. The seat track motor electrical connector needs disconnection before using specified pins with power connections to modify its horizontal position. You should check that the seat track motor assembly can be removed at its intended position; if movement is not possible then apply power to the drive tube with manual tube rotation. Move the outboard track forward so that its two teeth become visible alongside the retainer clip and position the drive tube flat spot facing upward. The alignment marks should be applied to the inboard and outboard track C-channels on the plastic-coated slide for future reinstallation purposes. Detachment of the memory seat module must begin with first noting connector positions before disconnecting the three memory position sensor electrical connectors. Detach the memory seat module from the necessary nuts and bolts which also include disconnection of wiring. To separate the drive tube from the stub shafts you must use a hammer when removing the inboard seat track-to-upper support assembly lift link nuts. Distraction of the seat track motor assembly begins by first unscrewing its bolts and nuts followed by gentle pry removal of the outboard track along with support straps. The memory seat position sensors should be eliminated through counterclockwise rotation. When installing the new seat track motor assembly position the stub shaft flat spots exactly like the old assembly while placing the motor correctly oriented right-side-up and lubricating the motor pivots with grease. Set the gears properly together with no spaces before you install the support straps tight against the height adjustment gears. Install the outboard track by aligning its index marks between C-channel and plastic-coated slide before ensuring all components sit tightly against each other. Tighten the seat track motor assembly-to-seat track bolts to a torque of 12 Nm while tightening the nuts to 14 Nm. Remove the bolt which disengages the SRS seat position sensor magnet assembly after checking the alignment of the index marks. Use the drive tube on the inboard track to slot the track onto the motor stub shaft after the lift links engage correctly. The inboard seat track-to-upper support assembly lift link nuts require tightening to 27 Nm (20 lb-ft) while checking that the index marks align properly. Reassemble the seat and SRS seat position sensor magnet assembly within the vehicle by aligning mounting holes while staying away from forced insertion. Memory seat equipped vehicles need customers to reconnect their components while having the driver seat run through its complete range of travel before reinstalling the seat. Finally, reinstall the seat.

Verify the alignment of the index marks and check the inboard track alignment.

Wash hands thoroughly as the air bag surface may contain sodium hydroxide, which is irritating to the skin.

It may lead to incorrect deployment of the seat side air bag module, posing a serious risk of injury or death in a crash.

Disconnect the seat track motor electrical connector, then apply power and ground to the specified pins to adjust the horizontal position.
