Oil Pan

Service and repair operations on the oil pan begin with TWC removal and engine oil drain through removal of the oil pan drain plug. Start by removing the TWC supporting bolts on the bracket and perform this operation smoothly from one end to the next. The technician must detach the oil pan by removing its ten bolts after which they discard the gasket. The correct method of gasket material removal when installing the new oil pan involves manual scrapers rather than abrasive grinding discs to protect aluminum sealing surfaces from scratches or gouges. Complete an inspection of both the cylinder block and oil pan front surfaces before treating them with solvent to remove all old sealer residues until they become flat, clean and dry. Use Silicone Gasket and Sealant F6AZ-19562-AA or a product equivalent to Ford specification WSE-M4G323-A with 3.0 mm (0.125 inch) width at oil pump and crankshaft rear oil seal retainer attachments to seal these joints. This application must happen within ten minutes before installing the oil pan. The installation of oil pan gasket and oil pan requires complete engagement of press fit tabs within the oil pan gasket channel. Install the oil pan by lining its rear edge with a straight edge prior to bolt installation in the appropriate sequence. Install the TWC to the oil pan bracket and the TWC component before completing the installation of the oil pan drain plug. Drain the engine after lowering the vehicle then add Super Premium 5W30 SAE Motor Oil XO-5W30-QSP which meets Ford specification WSS-M2C153-G or its equivalent. Start the engine and inspect the area for evidence of leaks as the last step.

Reinstall the TWC to oil pan bracket and the TWC itself, followed by the oil pan drain plug.

Avoid using abrasive grinding discs; instead, use manual scrapers.

Clean and inspect the mounting faces of both the oil pan and the cylinder block, using solvent to eliminate all traces of previous sealer, ensuring both surfaces are flat, clean, and dry.
