Cushion Cover, Rear

The first step to service the rear seat cushion cover in the third row involves removing both plastic rivets followed by drawing out the cushion handle from its pocket. An appropriate tool should pry the rivet from under the head while keeping the insert safe from damage. Poking a screw into the rivet head partially followed by extraction will require the use of new plastic rivets for replacement. You should detach the pivot release cable and casing before eliminating the pivot release handle. A suitable tool like a pin-type retainer tool can be used to remove the load floor panel once you pull out its retainers and remove the two screws that secure it at the bottom of each side. Withdraw the screw followed by tab release and floor latch cover removal before discarding it while paying special attention to bench seats which require removal of two floor latch covers. Take care during seat back trim cover hook and loop separation to avoid damaging the foam connection of the strap to the seat. Before reassembly always keep the LATCH and child safety seat tether anchor accessible through the trim cover by removing the cushion trim cover retainers from the cushion frame. The installation requires doing the opposite of what was done during removal.

Service of the rear seat backrest cover for Five Hundred and Montego requires initial removal of the rear seat cushion then the 40 percent rear seat backrest. Use your fingers to depress the head restraint adjust button in order to remove the head restraint assembly. First separate the J-clip from the bottom edge of the backrest trim cover and then disconnect its hook and loop strips from the back. Separate the bushing while paying attention to prevent damage to the hook and loop strip attached to the seat backrest foam. The backrest trim cover needs hook and loop strip removal followed by flipping the cover inside out and removing three hog ring rows from the guide slot. Use the backrest trim cover to pull the latch release strap. Then lift the backrest foam pad, pinch the head restraint guide and remove both head restraint guides. You should reverse the removal procedure for reattaching the backrest trim cover.

Remove the first, second, and third rows of hog rings in the front, and release the J-clips at the back of the trim cover.

Separate the pivot release cable and casing to remove the pivot release handle.
