Begin seat cushion cover service by implementing safety rules to prevent deployment of air bag module or pretensioner when probing their connectors which could result in personal injury. When working with air bag components it is necessary to wear safety glasses at all times while the back up power supply requires depleting by Negative Battery Cable removal followed by a one-minute wait period for auxiliary batteries. The passenger seat contains an Occupant Classification Sensor (OCS) system which operates as a unit replacement part. Before continuing work you must eliminate the front seat and deactivate the supplemental restraint system (SRS). The reinstallation of the front seat track bolts requires tightening them to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft). The heated seat grid electrical connector should be disconnected before removing the cushion cover from its position on the cushion pan. The completion of this process involves reversing the removal steps followed by reinstallation of the front seat before repowering the SRS system.

Safety glasses should always be worn when servicing the front seat backrest cover because it helps prevent injuries that could result from unintentional air bag deployment. The front seat back trim covers require new replacements if the seats have side air bags but cleaning remains an acceptable option. Start the process by disabling power from the supplemental restraint system (SRS). Unclip the two locking tabs from the head restraint while removing both guides that cannot be exchanged with each other. You need to remove the manual lumbar adjusting knob only if present along with the J-hook from the bottom of the front seat backrest cover. Take care during the separation of the seat back trim cover from the hook and loop strip to prevent tearing of the strip from the seat back foam. The technician should install the front seat backrest cover in the reverse order of disassembly and activate the SRS before checking for operational faults in the system before returning the vehicle to the customer.
