The service or repair process for the Air Bag Electronic Crash Sensor (ECS) begins with turning off the system to minimize personal danger followed by the exclusion of memory saver devices because electronic components are sensitive to static charge. The ECS module replacement represents the repair solution while returning to diagnostic testing remains necessary after reinstalling the original part if the issue continues. When the ECS fuses get removed during key ON state it is expected that the air bag warning lamp becomes visible but this condition does not imply an SRS supplemental restraint system malfunction. Prior to vehicle customer receipt check that the SRS operates correctly without any present faults. To detach the ECS module start byRemoving the floor console and then unlock the electrical connector locking clip and disconnect it before taking out its retaining bolt. The ECS module removal process starts by taking out the retaining bolts after disconnecting the electrical connector and unlocking the electrical connector locking clip. System operational accuracy depends on the proper torque tightening of the ECS module retaining screws for installation. The system repowering process must start from the final reverse steps of removal.
