Vehicle Speed Sensor

The first step for servicing the rear wheel speed sensor requires users to deactivate the fire suppression system due to serious personal injury risks. Start the process by removing the seat cushion which is found at the rear. The rear wheel speed sensor electrical connector requires disconnection before you push the wheel speed sensor harness grommet through the passenger compartment floor space. Take off the wheel together with the tire followed by unclipping the wheel speed sensor harness connectors. After you remove the sensor bolt you should detach its unit; verify that the new sensor reaches a torque setting of 7 Nm (62 inch lbs.) throughout the installation process. Repower the system only when performing fire suppression system activation after installation but follow all safety warnings and personal injury prevention procedures. The replacement process should be conducted in a reverse order of removal.

Before accessing the wheel speed sensor of the rear wheel users must deactivate the fire suppression system if present followed by unscrewing the rear seat cushion. First disconnect the electrical connector from the rear wheel speed sensor before pushing the sensor harness grommet into the opening of the passenger compartment floor. The service of a vehicle with air suspension requires power disconnection before any lift or towing operation to stop unexpected air spring pressure changes which could cause shifting and lead to injuries; vehicles with this system should use the OFF position on the air suspension service switch. Place the vehicle at NEUTRAL and position it onto the hoist for support. Separate the wheel speed sensor harness connectors after which you should unfasten the rear wheel speed sensor bolt and sensor before reinstalling the new sensor with a torque setting of 7 Nm (62 inch lbs.). Before continuing with use you should power up fire suppression systems and adjust the air suspension service switch to ON if your vehicle is so equipped.

Service of the rear wheel speed sensor demands that you disable fire suppression systems when present along with removing the rear seat cushion. The technician must disconnect the rear wheel speed sensor electrical connector and direct the wheel speed sensor harness grommet through the opening in the passenger compartment floor. All air suspension system power must be switched off before hoisting, jacking or towing the vehicle to stop any unpredictable air spring pressure or vacuum changes that could move the vehicle and harm people; equiped vehicles require turning on their air suspension service switch to OFF. Place the vehicle in NEUTRAL gear before installing it onto a hoist and then separate the wheel speed sensor harness clips. Insert the new sensor by tightening it to 7 Nm while installation is in progress. The installation process requires repowering the fire suppression system while turning the air suspension service switch ON provided the system features such a switch.

Reverse the removal procedure for proper installation.

Remove the sensor bolt and the sensor itself.

The OSS sensor bolt should be tightened to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).

Tighten the bolt to 11 Nm (8 ft. lbs.).

Remove the sensor bolt and the sensor itself.

Disconnect the electrical connector from the TSS sensor.

Remove the TSS sensor bolt and the sensor itself.
