To begin the transmission fluid cooler tubes cleaning process start by hoisting the vehicle when it is in NEUTRAL position. The removal of metal particles together with clutch plate material and band material from the cooling system serves as an essential step to stop recurring transmission issues. Due to its thermostatic bypass valve the oil-to-air (OTA) fluid cooler cannot be repaired. Therefore replace the OTA fluid cooler with a new one when there is leakage or major metallic failure or multiple clutch or clutch plate failure or significant wear that creates metallic contamination. A suitable cleaning solution should be used to cleanse fluid cooler tubes. Initiate the fluid flow while checking for strength and contamination because weak or contaminated flow requires filter replacement in the flush equipment. The connection process starts with OTA cooler tube disconnect followed by rubber hose installation while attaching pressure lines and tank return hoses to transmission steel cooler tubes (Keep longer). Position the outlet end in the fluid tank reservoir. The pumping system requires a five-minute operation cycle with ON and OFF switch alternation to dissolve pollutants from the system. The procedure requires you to stop the pump operation and separate the pressure hose from the transmission cooler return tube. Apply compressed air to discharge the coolers along with their tubes completely before removing the rubber return hose from the steel tube and reattaching the OTA tubes to their destination. The post-flush fluid clarity does not show that all contaminants have been eliminated therefore you should replace the OTA cooler.

The first step to handle 4R70E/4R75E transmission fluid cooler tube maintenance requires hoisting the vehicle in NEUTRAL position. The cooling system requires complete clean-out of metal particles and clutch material because these substances cause transmission failure to happen again. The Thermostatic Bypass Valve in Oil-To-Air (OTA) transmission fluid coolers makes them non-repairable products so replacement with new OTA transmission fluid coolers is required when the component shows either leakage or substantial wear. Use a suitable torque converter/fluid cooler cleaner to clean transmission fluid cooler tubes while creating a strong fluid flow before executing the following procedure. Weak or contaminated fluid flow will require replacement of the flush equipment filter. The transmission fluid cooler tubes should be detached from the OTA cooler for cleaning by installing two new rubber hoses to the transmission side of the steel tubes. A rubber hose must replace the OTA cooler before securing the tank pressure line onto the longest steel transmission fluid return tube with a tank return hose extending into the fluid tank reservoir. Activate the pump to allow transmission fluid circulation for 5 minutes with switching the pump ON and OFF to clear away contaminants. Turn off the pump while you remove the pressure hose from its connection with the return tube. Start by blowing out all remaining fluid from the transmission fluid cooler and its tubes through compressed air. Then reinstall the OTA cooler tubes by disconnecting the rubber return hose from the steel tube which remains. The coolers might still contain trapped contamination therefore replacing the OTA cooler with a new one will guarantee proper operation.

Remove the rubber return hose from the remaining steel cooler tube and reconnect the OTA cooler tubes.
