How to service and repair the front Door Latch Assembly on 2000 Ford Contour?

In order to fix the front door latch, you have to remove the door trim by disconnecting the battery, loosening the watershield and peeling it off. Unscrew the latch, disconnect electrical connectors and remove the handle bezel. When the latch and cable mechanism is detached, place it back in following the same sequence and making sure that the components are put in place accordingly.
