2000 Ford Expedition Harmonic Balancer Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the harmonic balancer and crankshaft pulley on 2000 Ford Expedition?
A: The procedure to service harmonic balancers and crankshaft pulleys starts with taking out the engine cooling fan and fan shroud before removing the drive belt. The Crankshaft Damper Remover should replace the crankshaft pulley bolt so that you can separate the crankshaft pulley. The installation should begin by removing any sealant which remains unsecured after four minutes so cleaning with Metal Surface Cleaner F4AZ-l9A536-RA or equivalent WSE-M513392-A ford specification will cause the area to dry for a duration of minimum four minutes or until dry in order to prevent oil leakage. Wet the woodruff key slot of the crankshaft pulley with either Silicone Gasket and Sealant F7AZ-19554-EA or its equivalent which matches Ford specification WSE-M4G323-A4. The crankshaft pulley installation requires the Crankshaft Damper Replacer tool. Use the bolt and washer to complete the installation by originally reaching 90 Nm (66.15 ft. lbs.) and then loosening it before applying 47 - 53 Nm (34 - 39 ft. lbs.) torque while finally rotating the bolt precisely 85 - 90 degrees. End the procedure by putting back the drive belt followed by the engine cooling fan and the accompanying fan shroud.
