2000 Ford Mustang Vapor Canister Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Vapor Canister on 2000 Ford Mustang?
A: A service or repair of the evaporative emission control canister needs to start by disconnecting the battery ground cable in order to prevent fuel vapor explosions and fires. After raising and supporting the vehicle you need to remove its left rear wheel. Service and repair of the evaporative emission control canister begins by disconnecting the canister vent solenoid hose assembly in a smoke-free and open-flame-free area. Once the connector is removed you can detach the tube linking the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge outlet. Uninstall the EVAP canister with bracket assembly from the automobile by removing the bolts and disconnecting the brace. Uninstall the canister vent solenoid that comes with its hose assembly then take off the EVAP canister purge outlet tube elbow. As the last step detach the EVAP canister from the canister bracket. After repeating the removal procedures reinstall the parts and test for leaking before performing the drive cycle for evaporative emission repair verification.
