- Q: How to Bleed the Brake System After Installing a New ABS Control Module on 2000 Ford Windstar?A: After installing the Four Wheel Anti-Lock Brake System (4WABS) Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU), start brake fluid bleeding by first cleaning the brake master cylinder filler cap from dirt then remove the cap before filling it with recommended fluid. Secure a clear drain tube to the right-hand rear bleeder screw so that the tube outlet rests inside recommended brake fluid which fills a clear container. The assistance should pump the brake pedal which needs to be maintained under a constant firm pressure. You should start by opening the RH rear bleeder screw until brake fluid begins to escape but stop when the assistant continues to pressurize the system. Continue bleeding using the described method until the fluid remains clear with no bubbles present and make necessary reservoir refills.
