2000 Lincoln Continental Throttle Cable Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the throttle cable and linkage on 2000 Lincoln Continental?
A: The service process for throttle cable and linkage repair starts with removal of the engine air cleaner intake tube and duct followed by bolt and splash shield retaining pin to discard the accelerator control splash shield. Start by disconnecting the accelerator cable from the throttle body followed by depressing the tabs to break the connection of the accelerator cable from its bracket. After that remove the cable from the battery tray retainer. The transition starts by undoing the tie wrap that restrains the accelerator cable to the brake master cylinder then removing the bolts which anchor the accelerator cable to the dash panel. First remove the instrument panel steering column cover before detaching the accelerator cable from the dash panel and subsequently removing it from the accelerator pedal and shaft. Remove the accelerator cable retainer before taking out the cable from the dashboard panel. To reinstall the part use backward steps of removal.
