How to Remove and Service the Center Console Base for Automatic Transmission on 2000 Lincoln LS?

To handle automatic transmission console repair work start with the parking brake engaged and set the selector lever to neutral position. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Pull off the ashtray panel and disconnect all electrical sockets. Additionally remove the cell phone connections when they are installed. Take out the console finish panel assembly by lifting it from the front. Additionally normalize the traction control switch electrical connection if needed and remove the cellular phone wire from the panel. Detach the console rear finish panel component by unfastening its clips and gently pulling towards the back. Take out the parking brake boot from underneath the console base while removing all front screws and rear bolts from the console. Detach the console air conditioning duct mounting screw from its position. Move the console assembly back until it comes off. Complete installation steps by doing tasks in the opposite order used for removal.
