Service and repair of the front door exterior handle begins after removing the front door trim panel with the attached watershield. Start by disconnecting the electrical connector then taking out the nuts which secure the door handle. Separate the front door latch from its rod connection with the lock cylinder before separating the rod from the outside front door handle at both points. Pursue the door handle out from below while making sure the front door window glass reaches its maximum height. Install the door handle by reversing the removal process while preventing the latch from being preloaded by the lock cylinder rods which must be kept loose without slack.
