2001 Lincoln Navigator Shock Absorber Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the rear shock absorber on 2001 Lincoln Navigator?
A: Start the repair and servicing process of the rear shock absorber by maintaining control over the electrical power to the air suspension system using the RH kick panel area air suspension switch which stops air spring deflation and inflation during jacking and hoisting and towing operations. Support the lifted vehicle and remove wheels keeping away from heat application to avoid wheel and bearing damage. Start by engaging the High-Lift Jack under the rear axle before unscrewing the upper shock absorber nut along with its bolt. Next, remove the lower shock absorber nut followed by its bolt before taking out the actual shock absorber. Users must first clean all wheel mounting surfaces together with wheel hubs and brake drums and brake discs to achieve proper metal contact and secure wheel nuts against loosening that could lead to loss of control. After reversing the removal process you should install the components while tightening all wheel nuts according to their specified sequence.
