2002 Ford Crown Victoria Light Control Module Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the Light Control Module on 2002 Ford Crown Victoria?
A: You must disconnect the battery ground cable as your first step for servicing the Lighting Control Module (LCM). Before taking out the LCM users must transfer its configuration data to a diagnostic tool because the tool will download this data to the new module post-installation. The service starts by removing the LH instrument panel lower insulator followed by taking out the pin-type retainers and disconnecting the courtesy lamp. The service includes removing accelerator pedals and shaft when adjustable pedals are installed in the vehicle. First position the LCM to the side and unfasten its screws. Then use your fingers to unlock the locking tab before disconnecting all electrical connectors and separating the LCM from the unit. The reverse sequence of uninstall should be followed during installation while verifying proper operation. The diagnostic tool should provide module configuration data to the new LCM after its installation.
