2002 Ford E-150 Econoline Accelerator Cable Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Accelerator Cable on 2002 Ford E-150 Econoline?
A: Service repair of the accelerator pedal begins by first holding the pedal while disconnecting the accelerator cable at both its pedal mount and its shaft connection. The first step involves removing both the Air Cleaner (ACL) component alongside its outlet tube. Remove the splash shield after detaching the pin-type retainer of the accelerator cable from the accelerator control. The accelerator cable can be extracted from the bulkhead after compressing the retaining tabs from inside the vehicle through the cable end. Pull out the accelerator cable from its position attached to the throttle body cam which requires discarding the original clip. Take off the accelerator cable from its bracket position through compressing retaining tabs to extract the cable. The process for installation involves performing the opposite steps of removal and adding a fresh pin-type accelerator cable retaining clip.
