2002 Ford Escape Battery Cable Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the battery cable on 2002 Ford Escape?
A: The battery cable servicing requires steps starting with battery tray removal and continuing with air cleaner assembly removal and final removal of the fuse junction box cover. The next step requires cable removal through nut disconnection of both cable pieces and releasing the lock clip before pulling down on the connector. First strip away the bolt found in the inner fender as well as the bolt attached to the ground cable at the transaxle. Unplug all harness clips first from the engine backend then extract the cable clip mounted below the battery support frame. After raising and supporting the vehicle the technician should take off the lower and upper starter solenoid nuts to remove the cable ends. Separately take off both the generator B+ connector nut and its cable end before beginning to remove the battery cable harness assembly. Follow the reverse steps of removal to install the components.
