2002 Ford Escort Accelerator Cable Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Accelerator Cable on 2002 Ford Escort?
A: Service and repair of the accelerator pedal starts with disconnecting both the accelerator cable from the throttle control lever and from the accelerator cable bracket. Begin by removing the cable housing connected to the accelerator cable bracket before disconnecting the accelerator cable end from the throttle control lever and putting the accelerator cable in a suitable place. First remove the (A) accelerator cable retaining clips before extracting the (A) bolts to drop both the (B) accelerator pedal along with its shaft. Connectors between the accelerator pedal and shaft need removal through cable end locking grommet tab squeezing and subsequently removing the accelerator cable. You can complete the operation by squeezing the accelerator cable lock tabs before pulling the cable out from the bulkhead. The installation process should be reversed alongside cable adjustment according to requirements.
