2002 Ford Thunderbird Antenna Cable Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Lead-In Antenna Cable on 2002 Ford Thunderbird?
A: The battery ground cable needs to be disconnected before starting any antenna lead-in cable service work. Leaving the wiring harness antenna lead-in cable in position is necessary before adding an upper cable that requires secure ties to keep it in place. The service should begin by removing the glovebox followed by disconnecting the antenna lead-in cable from the antenna upper cable. After disconnecting the glovebox and antenna upper cable from the antenna lead-in cable begin by removing the center A/C register finish panel then the lower instrument panel center finish panel by starting at the top. Remove the screws from the instrument panel center finish panel which you will place aside afterward. The installation requires removing screws while also disconnecting electrical connectors from the audio/Dual Automatic Temperature Control (DATC) assembly. To mount the installation follow the previous dismount operations while keeping the antenna lead-in cable connected to the wiring harness unless changing the cable secure the new wire with ties. The prevention of noise requires you to cut both ends of the old antenna lead-in cable in order to remove its metal connectors.
