How to service and repair the rear bumper cover on 2002 Ford Thunderbird?

The first step for rear bumper cover servicing requires removal of six screws positioned evenly across each side. You need to unplug the rear bumper cover harness connector before removing its pin-type retainers. Start with the removal of rear luggage compartment trim panel and after that disconnect the two rear lamp assemblies. Detach the rear bumper cover from its mounting points by removing nuts first then unclipping the cover from the brackets while pulling the sides apart while pushing up to fully separate it. The bolts and rear bumper cover bracket must be eliminated upon requirement. For new rear bumper cover installation follow the exact opposite procedure of disassembly.
