2002 Lincoln Blackwood Brake Booster Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the brake master cylinder and brake booster on 2002 Lincoln Blackwood?
A: The brake master cylinder and brake booster service requires beginning with disconnecting the ground cable from the battery. The installation of components requires following the proper removal sequence while the installation process should reverse these steps. Before installing the brake master cylinder one must measure the power brake booster to brake master cylinder pushrod length and adjust the screw length if needed. During brake master cylinder removal you must cut the electrical connector for the brake fluid level warning switch and also detach the brake pressure switch electrical connector on speed control vehicles. Two wrenches should be applied to the tube nut on the spacer to prevent its loosening before disconnecting the two brake lines and plugging the brake lines together with the brake master cylinder ports. To eliminate the brake master cylinder remove its two securing nuts then pull out the brake master cylinder assembly. Reinstallation occurs by following the reverse order of brake master cylinder removal while bleeding the brake master cylinder system.
