2002 Lincoln Navigator A/C Accumulator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the A/C Accumulator for the main climate control system on 2002 Lincoln Navigator?
A: The service procedure for the suction accumulator of the main climate control system requires connecting to disconnected battery ground cable before executing refrigerant discharge and recovery. The service begins with removing the junction block splash shield then disconnecting cable ends and uninstalling the junction block bracket through connector disengagement and screw removal. The technician should first remove the suction accumulator's spring lock coupling connected to the manifold and tube assembly then disconnect the electrical connector of the A/C cycling switch. The mounting bolt of the suction accumulator bracket enables removal before disconnecting the spring lock coupling from the A/C evaporator core and lastly removing the suction accumulator itself. The top of the suction accumulator needs its A/C cycling switch to be removed as the last step. Installation requires reverse order steps followed by service of the new suction accumulator with PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or an equivalent oil which meets Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.
