2002 Lincoln Town Car A/C Accumulator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the A/C Accumulator on 2002 Lincoln Town Car?
A: Service and repair of the HVAC accumulator needs to begin by recovering the refrigerant first. Users should release the suction accumulator connector of both wiring and the evaporator to compressor line spring coupling while discarding the O-ring parts. After removing the suction accumulator from its position on the evaporator core you should discard the O-ring seal. A back up wrench serves to protect the fitting and tube when removing the suction accumulator through unscrewing its components. First strip off the insulation cover and the mounting bracket from the suction accumulator. The installation procedure requires removing the components in the opposite order. Transferring the A/C cycling switch is required during installation of a new suction accumulator. The correct amount of clean PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil must lubricate the system (R-134a Systems) using F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or an equivalent oil that meets Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B. Install new O-ring seals which received the same oil lubrication. To complete the procedure evacuate the system then perform a leak test followed by system charging.
