2002 Lincoln Town Car Antenna Cable Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair an Antenna Cable Without Removing It from the Wiring Harness on 2002 Lincoln Town Car?
A: Service and repair operations on the antenna lead in cable require removing the battery ground cable at first. First remove the package tray trim panel followed by taking out the pushpins on the lower quarter trim panel then remove the cowl trim panel and the B-pillar trim panel. Disconnection of the radio antenna lead in cable requires bolt removal followed by its separation point from the antenna isolator module. The antenna lead in cable cannot be unplugged from the wiring harness when installing it unless replacement is needed since cable repair requires leaving the original cable intact. Fix the new cable over the harness wiring by applying wire ties while maintaining clearance from the harness strands. Secure and insulate the old cable ends to stop creation of noises. The antenna lead in cable needs installation at the antenna isolator module followed by new cable placement through the wiring harness conduit along the rocker panel before reattaching the antenna lead in cable. After installation of the package tray trim panel proceed by putting pushpins into the lower quarter trim panel and cowl trim panel followed by placing the B-pillar trim panel back in position. Reconnect the battery ground cable. The vehicle will show abnormal drive results before it completely learns its adaptive strategy after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. Driving for 16 km (10 mi) or more may be needed by the system before normal operation resumes.
