2003 Ford Crown Victoria Antenna Cable Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service and Repair an Antenna Cable Without Removing It from the Wiring Harness on 2003 Ford Crown Victoria?
A: The service and repair process for antenna cable begins with disconnecting the battery ground cable. Service and repair of the antenna cable requires removal of seven trim panels including the package tray trim panel with roof side rear and front and rear scuff plates and lower quarter trim panel and B-pillar trim panel and RH instrument panel lower insulator by first using the pin-type retainers and releasing the locking tab and removing the courtesy lamp. To begin the antenna lead-in cable service you need to uninstall the A-pillar lower trim panel followed by disconnecting the radio antenna lead-in cable. Follow these directions when installing the antenna lead-in cable since it remains attached to the wiring harness but you must leave both cables connected when necessary thus running two cables side by side and using wire ties to secure them before insulating each old cable end to reduce noise interference. The antenna lead-in cable installation starts at the antenna isolator module before conducing it towards the rocker panel through the wiring harness tunnel for a subsequent reconnection. The service procedure requires installation of the A-pillar lower trim panel followed by instrument panel lower insulator then B-pillar trim and finally lower quarter trim panel, scuff plates, roof side rear trim panel and package tray trim panel. Complete the battery ground cable reconnection as the last step of the procedure. The vehicle requires driving at least 16 km (10 mi) to readjust its adaptive strategy after battery connection and disconnection because abnormal drive symptoms are possible until proper adaptation occurs.
