2004 Ford Crown Victoria Antenna Cable Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the rear antenna cable on 2004 Ford Crown Victoria?
A: The beginning step to service the rear antenna lead-in cable requires a battery ground cable disconnection. The service process begins by removing the package tray trim panel together with roof side rear trim panels and both right-hand front and rear scuff plates. The second step requires removal of the bottom trim panel for the lower quarter and B-pillar alongside the right-hand instrument panel lower insulator through pin-type retainer release and locking tab detachment and courtesy lamp disconnection. Start by taking off the A-pillar lower trim panel and follow this step by disconnecting the radio antenna lead-in cable. installation requires wiring harness users to maintain the existing antenna lead-in cable while adding a new cable above it secured by wire ties which should not penetrate into the wiring harness. Secure the old cable ends with insulation or ties to stop noise emissions. The antenna lead-in cable for the new antenna needs to be connected at the antenna isolator module while also being routed through the wiring harness conduit along the rocker panel before reconnection. The installation procedure includes putting back the A-pillar lower trim panel and instrument panel lower insulator followed by B-pillar trim and lower quarter trim panel and scuff plates and roof side rear trim panels and package tray trim panel. During this process reconnect the battery ground cable while keeping in mind that once the connection is made the vehicle might show unexpected driving behavior while it adapts its adaptive strategy which may need the driver to complete at least 16km (10 miles) of driving.
