2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Blower Motor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the blower motor in the second row on 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac?
A: The service and repairs on the second-row blower motor start by removing the floor console followed by removing the coin tray and then unscrewing the console insert retaining screws. You should first take out the console lid screw before continuing with the removal of other required screws. First access the rear cup holder by opening it and take out its screws before getting the additional two screws. First disconnect the retaining clips then pull off the console rear finish panel before proceeding to take out screws. Detach the electrical connectors before removing the pin-type holder from its position. Disconnect the air distribution door linkage from the second row climate control assembly arm before removing the second row climate control assembly without bending the assembly arm. Next remove the screws from the console rear air distribution duct before taking out the nine console liner retaining screws. Detach the nuts and support screws whenever needed before disconnecting the blower motor resistor and releasing its pin-type retainer. Complete the removal of the blower motor and air distribution duct assembly by sliding the console reinforcement in reverse direction then disconnect the blower motor electrical connector. The blower motor assembly can be extracted from the console air distribution duct by removing its screws. The installation process starts with placement of the blower motor assembly in correct position to the console air distribution duct before screw installation. Connect the blower motor electrical connector and position the studs of the blower motor and air distribution duct assembly at the console reinforcement before sliding the reinforcement forward. Connect the blower motor resistor electrical connector through the pin-type retainer and proceed with installing two screws and nuts. Screw the nine screws into the console liner before adding the console rear air distribution duct with its required screws. It is important to establish a connection between the air distribution door linkage and second row climate control assembly arm without damaging the assembly arm. At this time also reinstall the electrical connectors by engaging the pin-type retainer. Connect the second row climate control assembly before you install screws into place and slot the console rear finish panel onto the floor console by using retaining clips. Proceed by attaching screws to the finish panel followed by fitting the console lid with its screw and console insert with screws and coin tray, then reattach the floor console.
